Today´s newsletter features Aigai Spa designed by Chile-born, Sao Paulo-based architect Mário Figueroa and located in Pinheiros district, in São Paulo. With the aim at creating an urban oasis, and starting with the neighbourhood as its first layer, the building comprises various shells, each of them creating distance between the city and the inner space.

The main façade is set back, and a small public space defines the access. A curving wall surrounded by a flowerbed and covered by twenty different species of plants, gives privacy as well as insulates the building from the sounds of the street. The Relax Lounge (picture above) is the main outdoor space, with a half-sized white pergola, which features a mashrabiya motif that is cast in the shade.
